I must say.. RPers can be a feisty bunch. Only a select few of you though. I just find it funny when someone will be like, "WELL! I've been rping for like 892372 years and I'm just like so damn awesome. PS, your character sucks and I'm gonna be a jerk because I think that just because I've been rping for a while means that I must be good!"
OOOooo...good thread! good thread! It lets me bring up a very good point ive had in my head for a while now!
Oh and to stay on topic ill say that I have been rping for close to um...maybe 6 months....but see this is were I derive my point from.
It isnt how long you have been rping but the quality of the player itself....Though I havent been a serious rper for more then 6 months I think if you ask any of the other people on this forum they would say I was a good person to rp with...(just guessing...everyone seems to like me anyway...)
And actually, I was considered and "elite" RPer where I started from a few months ago, so here I kind of have trouble with how the people here make mistakes and don't write five large paragraphs per post, but I've learned to prefer RPing simple over taking 1 hour to reply to someone
.-.
But sometimes when people do things like make a Mary-Sue character, I make a point to tell them that in my experience, they'd be eaten alive if they mad characters like that in the RPs I used to be in.
I don't think how long matters, really, some people have been doing it for less time then me and are better, and I've seen morons who have been RPing longer then me, but experience does kind of count... xD

Yeah, I agree completely Naomi. It doesn't matter how long you've been doing it or whatever.. if your ideas are dry and your writing is too, experience doesn't help one bit.
And PS, I lurk in threads sometimes to juice ideas, and from what I've seen you ARE good to rp with
Exaltations, we have something in common then... Haha. I used to rp via myspace and at first I didn't know what I was doing, then people edged me into writing longer posts and when I did I was suddenly concerned "elite." And when I was in that loop.. most of the rpers were mad boring. They could write posts that were as long as Hell, but there was no substance..
And the Mary-Sue thing, understandable. You can't even really have fun with a character like that.
I've been a hardcore Rper for about.......4 years I think and most RPers aren't how you think they are, some of the most experienced role players will be happy to help newbies get used to it because we're always looking for new role players to join in the fun =p

Well the ones that required SUPER long posts and stuff never really GOT everywhere, people thought that the bigger the post, the more the plot moved along, but that ISN'T TRUE
People would get bored of the Advanced RPs because there was no plot or anything.
I used to play Mary-sues, but they weren't so bad, if my character was drop-dead gorgeous, she was really MESSED UP in the mind.
Like I hate it how people made a female character like "She is very psychotic and murderous, but if you get to know her, she's lovable."
WTF?!
How does that work? XD

Wowwww Dark. 4 years is mighty long. And, I just meant some of the rpers I've seen, but yeah I'm sure there are a lot out there that aren't jerks. (:
And ichijin- you're right. To a point anyways. I mean, if someone may not be that great at writing but makes up for it in ideas and substance, then it can be okay. Sometimes.. T_T
Just another thing I wanted to bring up too.. who other than me has trouble with dialog? x.x

True true.
It doesn't. :B
I mean, yeah it's good for characters to have a lot of different traits and what have you.. cause like real life people, we contradict ourselves so I always think thats interesting to see..
But two polar opposite things? Naaaah.
And yanno, I don't think I've ever played a girl just cause I'm pretty positive I'd turn her into a Mary-Sue without even trying.
Lmao, well see the thing about it is that I come from Gaia online where the RPs will have 5 girls and 2 boys, and ALL people want the RPs for is romance. Now I don't dislike romance or anything it'd cute but I don't RP JUST for that like some of these people.
SO, when someone is only ever playing female characters, usually you can tell they're more worried about pretending they're in a romance that their character is in. I play both genders but prefer female, if I have more then one character it's always one male, one female, except in the Assassin's RP where I'm making another female ONLY because I currently play the only female out of like 7 or 8 total characters... XD
