Soldiers are tools of a country, if you won't explain as to why you don't agree, I will explain why they are the tools of a country.
When a country declares war, what do they use? They use their soldiers to fight for them
When a country is in turmoil with rebellion or riots, when things get rough, they call in the troops.
Basically, here they use them without thinking for what the soldiers may feel, but this is how they were trained, they were trained to without hesitation, be able to kill when they have the order, and aim to disable when they can. They may still have their own mind, but their instincts are trained to kill, so even if they don't want to, they may just kill anyway. Experienced soldiers can kill, with the want to kill too, because they've done it before and for them, it's easy.
But they are tools, not for that reason, but for the reason that when they're ordered to do something, they will do it. The instinct of obedience to a superior is beat extremely hard and well into them, to the point that they won't even think of their own life when doing the order. Perhaps they may, because only an idiot would jump off a cliff when ordered to do so. For a soldier, if it's to escape being caught by the enemy, and there's a river or something down there, they'll do it.
Soldiers are tools, but very unique tools, that if used incorrectly, can bring about much havoc and chaos.
I'm not obliged to say what rank my father is(but i can give u an indication on how much he earns ($220,0000)) so i guess u can say he's very high up there, so u can understand why i have very strong views on this. The government funds the military but don't run it the final decision ultimately comes from HQ not from the prime minister or who ever runs the country. Thus military are not tools of the government.

Cool... your dad earns a fair bit. Yes, all orders come directly from HQ and not the prime minister. However, HQ can't just attack or invade a country without the president's/prime minister's orders.

I'm well aware of that, but it works both ways HQ can't just invade a country and the prime minister can't just order the army to do things either. They are both on the same level and that's why things get done properly.
But, even if you say that, it's all in the end up to the President, even if HQ may decide against it, they can't do anything, they can only try to persuade. The military and soldiers, they are tools with a mind of their own, but they are still tools that can be used. Of course, the President only decides the bigger orders, like move in soldiers to help or move in soldiers and invade, it's up to the Generals to decide how they're gonna do it.
So there, they're still tools.
On another note, soldiers get paid a lot as they are putting their life on the line. Field soldier get paid once they get home, but I think they get paid quite a bit.
I don't think they are. Being a soldier doesn't pay much. They get paid once they're home, but it's not like they recieve lots of money. There are lots of other jobs that earn more.
I'm going to avoid this thread now because i don't want to say something i regret due to my personal opinion OK. i can assure u those people who are high up in the military get a substantial income.
