Obama, defenitly... but of course,, I'm not over 18, AND I don't live in America... xD.. so I'm not of much use... anyway... I think McCaine is a lot like Bush... and see where he got us!
and Obama is black... and I think it would make a huge difference at how other people would look at Americans... right now they are seen as fat racists who eat too much at McDonalds, Burger King, etc... I mean.. when talking about them... that's what comes up.. I don't say they are all like that... maybe it's just a few of them... but the same is here in Holland... others just know our coffee shops xD. |

I think its sad that people in the USA have begun using the world "soscialist" as a negative thing when it comes to politics.. Universal healthcare=healthy people=happy people=good :0
the current system is pretty much created by the insurance companies in order for them to keep the healthcare buisness in their hands.. ("sicko" anyone?) |

I just ask, "So what's wrong with that? everyone getting the help they need?" That tends to quiet most people... But I'll have to disagree with universal health care. I thought it was a good idea, but not with a population the size of America's. Canada has it and the average wait to get a doctors appointment is like 6-8 months where as without universal health care, it's usually more immediate... It just depends I guess... |

The thing about socialism is that is sounds good on paper, but it doesn't work. At least it won't work in the US. The United States needs to quit flip-floping from one party to the other or nothing we do is gonna work in the long run. One president does things to the right, and the next cancels them out with actions to the right. We need to forget about political parties.

Political parties exist because people have different opinions on how the affairs of the country should be ran, and not having them would mean that our votes would no longer matter as much. We would basically be voting for the person we think would do the best to implement a predetermined set of goals for the country in which we have no input on. Granted, changing of national policies seemingly every 8 years can have plenty of negative consequences, but people should still be allowed to vote for the party that would best deal with current issues. |

I wasn't talking about demolishing political differences, just partisanship. This way, people are able to run based on their own ideas of government and its not set up in way that's like "it's us against them." That way even if there are political differences then they will still be able to reach a common objective.
I think getting rid of political parties is the same as getting rid of monopolies and trusts. But this is so much harder because the people who are in charge belong to these parties. |
