Most people only know about who they see on TV or the radio.

And what's worse is the people on the outside looking in, view the entire genre based on these few people.

Now for me..the whole new stuff aint kickin' it like the old school...and I mean the OLD school Rap Hip Hop culture...maybe its because I am a lil older than the rest and I grew up with that stuff. XD *feeling real old now* Anyhoo Back than it was Bone Thugs n Harmony, The outlawz fatal etc, Easy e, tupac, snoop dog *his old stuff is awsome*, dre, Isley Brothers, R.kelly in his better days..lol, Rappin' 4tay just to name a few. Those guys..were people that did influence me in a gd way..i.e stay away from gang culture cos its Frickin dangerous.....

SERIOUSLY THE NEW HIP HOP culture is kinda just another genre nowadays..with songs like....she l*cked me like a lollipop....or elevator flowrider...lol...its rubbish...PURE rubbish..talkin about how many houses they own and how much money they make..its nothin but rubbish!!

There weren't any kanye Wests or Lupe fiascos back then bringing a new non gangster/nerdy/non typical image in hip-hop.

And as great as Tupac was, he had songs talkin a bunch of gangsta nonsense, and songs like "I get around"

Also isley and r. kelly aren't really hip-hop, they are technically rhythm and blues/R&B.

And R. kelly is STILL around and STILL making hits, hahaha.

You're right, that most of what you see on MTV or BET is rappers saying nonsense and only talking about money and drug dealing and alot of nonsense.

but there is ALOTTTTTTTT more to current hip-hop than most people that aren't immersed in it(like me), ever see.

Both kanye West and Lupe's albums have nothing but messages, positive content and good music.

in fact Chicago artists as a whole are saving the genre (I'm next up )

But I've seen lotsa

White people, anti hip-hop that just never really could get into it, and those that just hate on the entire genre cuz of what they see on TV.

And I've known many black dudes, that looked at me and my friend like we were crazy whenever we played anything that was rock and roll.

And I just kinda hate that. lol.

Agreed. Those guys are two of the few hip hop artists I listen to. Great mainstream stuff that almost all can relate to. Kanye might be the most original artist out there in terms of the unique stylistic approach he takes to his music. Definitely one of my favorite artists period, all genres included.
