I shall enlighten you.

the experiment is searchin for a particle which (supposedly) only roamed freely in the start of the universe, and hopefully when a "mini big bang" is created, it will recreate this particle which will be answer of all questions in physics, as well as mother of a new era of science.

now, we (almost) completely safe of anything going terribly wrong because although each proton has high amounts of energy (billions of times the temperature in the sun's core) and the collide will release these high amount of enery, they won't exit the "tube" where they are contained thanks to one of the 4 physics forces known as electromagnetism. (well, I'm not totally sure that all what I said was correct)

Yeah, we could get loads more new technologies outta this, like mecha from anime and energy sources that allow us to travel long distances! Who knows, maybe they'll make a particle that aliens can detect and then aliens will come down and share their tech! Like in Star trek!

Well if this works, we certainly won't have to worry about energy anymore. However, finding a way to harness this new energy will be the real challenge.

He reads some (weird) things about the "energy" and all that, and the creepiest thing is that those things are almost all of the times true, and they say that the Higgs will not be found...*sob*
