I'd like to know if this is a sort of RP section where people can make their own little RP threads, or is it one of them big ones that have multiple threads and boards... cos i dont want it to be the latter.

Well In a RP game you basicly come up with your own character or play as like a charater from the show and you start a thread and you other people post on it and it turns into kinda like a story that you made up as you went. Its kinda confussing...anyone have a better way of discribing it cause im not sure this makes sense..

Here's my desription of an RP, though it isn't limited to this. Not to mention, it can vary a lot.

With RPs the limit is the imagination. The game starter is responsible for setting any guidelines such as what characters can and can't do, themes, locations or whatever.

After that point, you do basically whatever you want. If you're just entering the game, usually you make up a character (name, traits, things like that and whatever else you want your character to be like).

Through the course of the game, you use your character to interact or do something with whatever the theme is.

Think of it kind of like writing a story. The first parts usually explain the people, places and events, while the rest can be what happens to those people and places.

For example, on another forum I visit, someone created a super hero role playing game. In it, the forum users were told to creat a superhero with whatever powers. Though the only rules were that we could only have one or two powers and we couldn't take over othe peoples characters without their consent. Through the course of the game, people would explain what their characters were doing and what was happening around them.

My character, for example, was a person who had the ability to transform different parts of his body, or could do full body transformations. However, with my character, when he did transformations, an evil being would possess him and cause him to do terrible things. Later in my characters story, the evil thing rip himself out of the good version of my character and thus, one of the main bad guys was born. We (the game players and I) spent the next 200 posts or trying to stop this bad guy. I liked that game but we had to end it when someone who was being a douche decided to just take all the fun out of it by making a character who couldn't die, knew everything, and had every power ever created. The guy refused to follow any rules that the game had so we stopped the game at that point. Also, we stopped it because the guy keptinsulting everyone and constantly made racial slurs. I think he got banned from that site...

Ahh, but that's my description of what an RP is. I know it ain't the best but maybe it will help you.

It can be. But that's up to the creator of the RP to decided that. Not all RPs have to have fighting in them, some can be about romance, other can contain adventure, others can be about problems in a society even. There's no limit.

Roleplays are kinda like movies and everyone who makes a character in it plays a part.
