Hitorigoto-

The world known as Hitorigoto is a world invisible to the living world. What it is exactly is a world created by the noisy minds of the world. This world is nothing but a mirror of the real world we live in now, or as the inhabitants of this world call it, the "world of the living". These inhabitants are known as the Speakers, wielding peculiar powers known as Noise, Speakers are in a fight for a second chance at life, or supremacy, and the title given to the one who reigns supreme, is the Reaper. Why do they aim to become Reaper? Being the Reaper means to be able to twist the laws of Hitorigoto, meaning they can give themselves life in the world of the living, or even destroy Hitorigoto.

This Mirror of a World-
When I say it's a mirror, I mean it's a mirror. It's an exact mirror of this world, meaning while you're sitting at your computer reading this, a Speaker in your house in Hitorigoto would be watching you as you read. It's an exact mirror, if I lifted my hand now, my "mirror" self would be lifting it's own hand too. But the difference between the two worlds, is that in Hitorigoto, hearing actual conversation is impossible, all the Speaker would hear is the thoughts of the person, not exactly hear, but pictures and scenes and words appear over the person's head, to depict what that person is thinking.

Our mirror selves, are called Monologues, called so because when people are thinking to themselves, they are actually in monologue. These mirror selves, well killing them or something similar would not affect the living self in any way. While all you killed was something physical, you cannot kill their thoughts, which keep on going, as if nothing happened. If you left for a minute or so and came back, they'd be back in their place, doing whatever they were doing, as if nothing had happened.

Speakers-
Speakers, hundreds of them, actually they're the souls of the dead, so there's probably billions. When people die, they end up in Hitorigoto, with two choices. Fight for the top and get their chance at life, or live in Hitorigoto. Speakers, they're like our everyday people, casual, ignoring the fact they're dead. Actually, some Speakers have actually tapped into new technologies of the living world, and were able to sell things to Speakers. Clothing, games, just about anything. The thing is, Speakers are limited to things that are portable, meaning your favorite Wii game or latest computer is impossible to get. Though iPods and Nintendo DS, they're possible to get.

How a Speaker buys from a shop... Well it's simple, they find the "mirror" shop in Hitorigoto, there'll always be a Speaker or two working there. That's where you buy your things, like go to a mirror clothes shop, buy your clothes there, go to a mirror JB-Hi-Fi, bye your new music players there. Loads of stuff really, as long as the store exists, you can go access the portable things sold there. Remember it's limited to portables.

How do Speakers "buy" things one may ask... Well, Speakers actually accumulate a sort of currency called Forte. Through defeating another Speaker, they gain this currency, it's a lot like your game's Experience. The output of Noise during the fight helps with how much of the currency is accumulated. The amount is recorded in the Speaker's music player, with an F next to the number. Now, to make it simpler, 10F is equal to 1 dollar there. So 100F is 10 dollars. American or Australian currency, I don't care. Well, that settles the matter of Speakers currency.

As the main opening has said, Speakers fight or live, well, there's a system or not, to this fighting. Call it a system or not, but the stronger a Speaker is, the higher the Forte is given for whoever beats them. There are two Speakers here, the Outlaws, called Outlaws because they're like Outlaws, a bounty is placed on them depending on strength. And the ones that live, called the Innocent. Since they don't aim to become strong enough to defeat the Reaper, which is the aim of Outlaws, they're Innocent. The Innocent can also have a sub-group, called Hunters. Hunters don't aim to become Reaper, some seek joy in fighting other Speakers, so they become a Hunter, and go after bounties. Though, to be hunted, it doesn't have to be a Hunter. An Outlaw can actually hunt another Outlaw, for bounty of course. So to make it simpler, an Outlaw would be our criminals in society, Hunters are somewhat like police, but like Jango Fett, are bounty hunters, and the Innocents are our everyday civilians.

Though, since the two worlds are mirrors, there is the issue on transportation. Well that's easily solved by teleporters set up in every phone booth in the mirror world. It's simple, there are two giant books, one for local, one for worldwide. They'd probably be the yellow pages in the living world. Look up where you want to go, put in the number, then after a few moments you're at the phone booth with the number depicted. Say Washington DC's number 128234, from somewhere else, far away, I type those numbers in, and after a few moments I'd find myself in the phone booth. Though since there are hundreds over thousands using the service, there is sometimes a minute or two of waiting.

Noise-
Now that Noise has been mentioned, let's move onto what Noise is shall we? Noise is the peculiar power that every Speaker carries, Innocent, Outlaw or Hunter, it doesn't matter who it is. The source of each Speaker's power is their music player, which makes sense, since music emits an actual noise, thus, the name of the power, Noise. Noise has elements, sometimes the genre of music the person likes affects it, but it doesn't have to. There are 7 elements. Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, Thunder, Light and Darkness. Since there are only 7, not everyone is unique, sometimes someone can have no element at all, but such is rare. And being non-element makes it hard to find weaknesses. But being non-elemental often means they're weak, since they call this non-element, "Infancy", since Speakers believe that those without an element have underdeveloped powers. But this isn't often the case.

So, Forte is accumulated through the more Noise is output during a fight. Forte in actuality means "Loud", meaning the more Noise, meaning the louder it is, outputs more Forte, which is currency. How the amount is measured, is how much power one has used during the fight. Some Speakers have Noise abilities that cause them to use a whole lot of Noise, which causes them to accumulate a lot of Forte, some don't use as much, but this often means they can control their power, and not let it fluctuate everywhere, causing them to faint much more quickly.

The Reaper-
You may be thinking "The Grim Reaper", well this is what a Reaper is. The Reaper of Hitorigoto is the Reaper that controls that world, he is more or less the King. Thing is, without the Reaper, Hitorigoto would be destroyed anyways. But the rule that has been made by the first Reaper, is that whoever kills the current Reaper, becomes the next. A Reaper always carries around a special Scythe, it's black completely, solid and has a strange looking skull where the blade begins. That skull is the sign of the Reaper. The Reaper is only a very powerful Speaker, he isn't some sort of god, but he is a dead soul who has attained power worthy of the rights.

Well, the thing about a "2nd life", is that this is actually fake. A Reaper is only able to materialize in the real world, and live there with an infinite life span, they can go back and forth whenever they want to really. But it's nothing but a fake, you can't actually "live" twice in reality, granting a second life is impossible in reality. But not one of the Speakers except the Reaper and the Reapers before the current knows this. The Reaper can change the laws... Well, it is only as long as the law is something that Hitorigoto itself will approve. In reality, Hitorigoto is the true Reaper.

YOU MAY START! Happy days, happy days

The skyscrapers of New York city towered towards the heavens as the people below walked, shadowed by these giants, going on with their lives in an orderly, or not so orderly fashion. Yes, this was New York city, but not to these guys. Speakers they were called, they knew that this New York city, was a mirror, they knew that they were dead, they knew that it's no use, fighting off this fact. The Speakers were the inhabitants of this mirror, of the world, of the people, about everything in everyday aspects. They were dead, and this world would be known as the afterlife, Hitorigoto.

Tri, not quite the rich guy, not quite the poor guy, not quite cheerful, but nor was he sad. There he stood inside an electronics store somewhere in New York city, his eye twitching at the ridiculous price.

"o-o-one thousand... Forte... to get this song pack?....", he said again,

"Tri, we can just go to another store", said a girl by his side.

"No Iris, I've been looking for this song pack for a very... very long time... Guy I'll take it", he said, handing them his music player. The man received the music player, then after a small pause to look at his customers, he quickly pulled out a usb cable, then began uploading the music into the music player. To be more exact, it was an iPod touch, some of the newest music players on the block. It cost him ten thousand Forte to get himself this, though he didn't quite regret it. Another gap in his pocket is nothing, though he was the one reaping in all the money, Iris here doesn't really do much, all she does is accompany him.

"Alright, that's done, I've also taken the Forte from your music player", said the cashier, handing Tri back his iPod.

"t-t-thanks...", he was obviously still reluctant with the price. Then he turned towards the door, as he connected the headsets with the iPod, he spoke,

"let's go Iris". Upon coming outside, he looked up towards the sky... No real color was in it, he admits, he wished it was blue like in the world of the living... Damn, he's calling it that, when he first came here he used to call it home, but now, Hitorigoto's become some sort of home for him. Everyday he fights, seeking to become the Reaper, for both he and Iris' sake. Then after a long pause of looking to the sky, he turned around towards the store he just went into. Monologues walked in and out, with games that Tri would probably be playing at this very moment, and among other things, new computers.

"Ummm.. Tri? You miss our old life don't you?", Tri was engulfed in thought, Iris' words awoke him from his feeling of longingness.

"Y-y-yea... I'll get us back there one day... We'll go back, and live together...", Iris began to smile, then in a slightly more playful tone,

"c'mon, let's get something to eat".

"Crap!!! What do you mean i can't get that game?" Simon was outraged by the clerk. Simon defeated enemies left to right and gained so much Forte. He did all this in order to get the new Street Fighter 9 Resurrection of Bison game for his newly enhanced PSP. He already had 8000F, but the game cost 8001. "Oh come on I'm only one Forte off can't you just give that to me?

Rhea was slipping through the shadows of new york city. Only visible when jumping or stepping from shadow to shadow and completely silent. Rhea currently had a large bounty on her head. She had been killing well know outlaws one after another to gain power and forte. Still Rhea like to enjoy life. She had wanted one particular song pack that was fairly rare and hard to find. There was supposedly one little store in new york that had it.

Slipping through the shadows she reached the store and walked in hoping for a fast trip. Walking in she looked at the music packs and found the one she wanted. So they do have it!!! she thought excitedly. Then rhea looked at the price $1,500. She twitched for a second but soon forgot the price. She wanted that music and had plenty or forte.

"Mister can I that song pack there..." she asked pointing it out. The man nodded and took her MP3 player. Adding the songs and taking her forte he handed it back. The with a short thanks she slipped out of the shop headphones in listening to her music. She paused under the gray sky of Hitorigoto for a moment before sighing and slipping back off into the shadows. Rhea had somewhere to be.

He was in the square... Well, alone since Iris didn't lend him money, like always. An independent girl like always, she was letting him go get money himself. Gather some forte from fighting a Hunter or Outlaw... Accumulated through the battle's energy output. Well, the square was half empty at this time, so with that he began flipping through his new music. Not much was happening... Though he was able to get the exclusive pack that contained a nice little game along with it. So he just played the game with the music.

ooc: Hey why else would you be in new york other then to shop...or hunt someone down...I just figured it was a good place to start...uniqueness staring now XP lol

Rhea had gone to a telephone booth and entered the number 5543122. She appeared in a small town now...or the mirror of a small town at least. When she ahd been alive it was were she lived. She made sure to show up and the same time everyday. Her boyfriend lance always came to her grave at the same time. Even if they were worlds apart...seeing that he still loved her was enough to make her mission in Hitorigoto to become reaper worth while. If I can just do that then I will get to see you again...she thought.

Walking through the mirror world to mirror of the grave yard and her headstone she saw him. Lance with a rose laying on her grave like every other day. He was kneeling down like usual and talking like he did. She placed her hand were his shoulder should have been. If only you knew I was right here...if only I could feel you...and you could feel me...she thought. Rhea...no matter were she was or what she was doing...did this everyday. The only time she didnt was if she absolutely couldnt.

After a few long moments lance stood up in the real world and said goodbye walking away. In Hitorigoto Rhea did the same, only she walked back to the phone booth. Where to now? she thought. With no were else on the mind Rhea typed the number for new york back in. Though she hated being in large citys due to the bounty placed on her, she figured she could find some decent opponents to fight there.

Once re teleported Rhea began to wander new york. Not sticking to shadows this time. Anyone who had been on her trail had definitely lost her by now. As she wandered she found herself in the square. There she sat down on a bench an sighed. For a big city nothing was going on. Looking around she saw a few people here an there. One guy was listenign to an ipod touch. Lucky bastard...got the newest thing out there...she thought staring at him for a moment without even realizing it.

Hmmm... These songs weren't that bad, but then he soon realized that someone was watching. A hunter? No if it was a hunter they'd have attacked by now, trying for the element of surprise. Could this be just a curious Innocent? If it was an Outlaw, he or she from what he could see, the answer was she, would be trying to knock out the competition. No it was likely to be... His eyes darted into the girl's direction, his head didn't move but his deep yellow eyes looked at her with more detail. Wait, what was her name? Rhea, she had the name, or rather title, "The Shadow of Death"... Moving his head, his legs began to fill with electricity and with that, he was off. And behind the girl,

"Hello, Shadow of Death... Is there something you want?", he asked.

Rhea was extremely laid back. She hadnt realy even considerd that this guy was a fellow outlaw.

"Well I can see you know my name...strange..I didnt even think you were a fellow outlaw but the more I look at you the more I seem to recognize you..." Rhea knew she had seen or heard of the guys somewhere. With her foot in the shadow of the bench she wasnt to fearful for her life. She could disappear at any given second. With that in mind rhea kept to conversation casual.

"Is your name Tri? I think thats right...and if you want the honest truth I didnt recognise you till now...I was actually getting jealous of your little ipod touch...lucky punk..." Rhea always had an extremley calm air about her. It usually threw opponents off how someone could be so calm in situations like the current. Rhea wondered if it would surprise this guy.

"Hmmm, just the iPod? Yea, I was quite lucky, last one in stock", he said. Well it was true... He didn't regret the rush he went through to get it, it was easier to read the Forte he had in it, it also measured the user's energy. Well, Noise energy, too bad it didn't measure his hunger, then he probably would have thought twice before buying the new song pack. Though her calmness was unusual... But so was his, well, all he's heard about her was her nickname, nothing more. But to meet her in person, she by appearance seemed quite interesting, he needed some way to get Forte, even if he didn't finish the battle, he'd still accumulate enough Forte. Well, all for his lunch right?

"But is that all?", he asked. He had the feeling that there was something else about her.
