I just don't get it at all. At first I thought he was going to do something weird like with Nagato, but I doubt that. If it's just the other stuff why was he worried about Sasuke becoming too powerful and being uncontrollable or something like that? Why do they need him at all?

Sasuke is the only one who can beat Madara because he also has Mangeyko Sharingan. Tobi knows this thats why he wants to manipulate Sasuke as a protege and or use him as a tool. But if anybody can stop him right now it will be Sasuke. Remember what the Kyubbi said "Eyes with such power and chakra more sinister than my own" "Not at all unlike what i saw in a certain Uchiha Madara"

Not to Mention Sasuke didnt even have Mangekyo when he spoke with the Kyubbi. Thats means alot.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. He was afraid of Itachi too, for that matter. Though, at this point Sasuke isn't really a threat at least yet, why help him rather than just kill him? There's just too many variables we still don't know to figure it out IMO :/

About synching Sasuke with Gedo Mazo. I'm pretty sure it's just the ability of Gedo Mazo to use Sasuke's chakra to extract a Bijuu.

There are many pages you should look at before judging on this:

For one, Gedo Mazo needs Chakra:

These chakra rods that Gedo Mazo uses are the same that Nagato uses to control Pain:

Shizune finds out that these rods are chakra transcievers:

And Inoichi finds out that Nagato continuously changes his chakra with which he controls Pain. So he uses difference frequencies:

These rods work in synch with chakra. So Sasuke who is supposed to synch with Gedo Mazo will have to learn how to use a specific chakra frequency so that Gedou Mazou can use his chakra.

That's all that I think Madara means. Since he needs another person to offer Gedou Mazou chakra:

Due to Akatsuki losing Nagato and Konan they lack the chakra to extract Bijuus so Madara eventually wants Sasuke to synch with Gedou Mazou as a chakra-compensation

SO because teh Gedo Mazo is a rin'negan's summon it must use
a certain frequency too (probably the frequency Nagato was using)

Well, you're the one who posted the radio allegory however it isn't Nagato's frequency since he could change his as he liked.

The reason that Gedo Mazo has a frequency is because it uses the same rods that Nagato does which means that it uses a chakra frequency to recieve chakra. And different frequencies are a way how to synchronize radios. But Wikipedia is my friend. I'll probably thank the site when I graduate...
