makes a lot of sense. wrt to arguments about thinking too deeply-- the manga follows the myths so closely that this seems very possible, even likely. to recognize that the manga matches the myth, but to then say this is too deep isn't giving kishi enough credit imo

Ok, so overall, I think you guys agree with me which is cool.

But now I'm gonna bitchslap you guys all away down the manga First thing is, you're right, the manga is about fights but discussing the pairing that Kishimoto actually intended is interesting none the less. (And obviously Kishimoto has thought this through.)

The pairing I reasoned in the first two posts of my thread is the one that will most likely happen. Naruto being Ryujin is obvious and Sakura coming from Sakuya is also obvious. Taking another figure from the same mythological corner is only sensable. And voilà, we find Sasuke in Ninigi no Mikoto. So in my opinion this is the best pairings theory.

But you shouldn't forget that this isn't the only describtion of possible pairings. In "The tale of the gallant Jiraya" Jiraya and Tsunade are married where as Orochimaru isn't in love with anyone.

So here we have Naruto = Jiraya, Sakura = Tsunade and Sasuke = Orochimaru which until now fits perfectly.

Sasuke isn't interested in girls at all. And in the moment Naruto Sakura is more manga spported than any other pairing.

And Sakura's trust in Naruto hasn't declined in the last couple chapters either:

So in the moment the theme of Tsunade x Jiraya is being done, no doubt. Now, I want to tell you why this isn't the theme that will be done till the end. The theme of the Sannins will be done for a while, Naruto has now accomplished and overcome Jiraya. He is stronger and he has taken in his entire strength, like sage mode and has already surpassed Jiraya. Sakura is going to catch up to Tsunade and surpass her, a lot like Sasuke won't stop when he has beaten Orochimaru.

They are clearly going to surpass these figures. Naruto had Jiraya as a master but he also had Kakashi and of course Minato left Kyuubi behind for Naruto so there is still some stuff left.
They won't stop at their theme of the Sannins.

Sasuke and the theme with Orochimaru is clearly being cut off. Sasuke is going to kill Orochimaru, that will be his symbol of surpassing Orochimaru.

And Sakura has been said to surpass Tsunade clearly:

When Kishi is done with the Sannins theme there will be the theme I presented in my first two posts left. Naruto will without doubt reunite with Sasuke, even Sasuke wants to reunite with Naruto. This destroys the Sannins theme completely and they will reunite after they have surpassed their Sannins.

As of then my pairings theory kicks in.

BTW Kishi might wake up one day and say:
Yeah I have flowed that myth as a base till now
and it has been good, but I won't make the end same...

So only the end will tell us everything...
The last few chapters will hold the key to everything,
and that's when we'll see if Kishi truly follows the myth entirely..

Besides, there isn't much choice, till now...
Only sasuke, sakura, naruto, hinata are in question...
And at the end a random girl/boy might appear (I don't think so)

Shikamaru and Temari is most likely, possibly Choji x Ino when that girl gets over herself...

I don't think Kishi can simply change the storyline like that. Kishimoto does plan ahead. Didn't you want to make the coverpage thread? Because I think the idea is cool and if you don't start it then I'll make it If you don't mind me stealing the idea then I'll do it on NF?

Hmm, I don't know whether Kishimoto will add love at all. But he will always add emotialal foundation. You see how Sakura leans towards Naruto at the moment. I think that her affection will lean towards Sasuke in the end...

I really would prefer Sakura Naruto but this constellation sounds much more sensible.

Nice theory, and you're right when you say the storyline is predestined 350 chapters ago, it makes sense and it's dumb not to agree with that. Although, I think basing pairings on mithology might be a little too far-fetched, because although I agree that Sasuke will most likely stay with Sakura, Naeuto won't marry Hinata.

I firmly believe Naruto will become a sage and wonder all around the world to honor his master. Of course there's also the counter that says Naruto will become Hokage and build up a new village with the remaining shinobi.

My opinion is all based on faith and beliefs, though.

The sheer knowledge (even if presented as or complete theory) is entertaining and educating whether or not the storyline follows as anticipated. The good natured ribbing between the local lore masters here is also very fun for me and provides great insight into fellow forum members.

As a casual fan and someone wholey uneducated to Japanese Mythos, I find these discussions and debates to be wonderful sources of patterns and details that would have otherwise never have been available to me.

Btw: I support the idea of the Sasuke/Sakura and Narotu/Hinata pairings, but I think the manga is leading to a Naruto/Sakura pairing. At the very least, I see the friendship between Naruto and Sakura as developing into something so close and personal that even if they do not end up as a couple - the magnatisim will always be overtly present.

I dont realy think Sakura will want Saskue after Saskue knocked her out and left the village. Besides she only liked Saskue because he was a brooding emo.
I think that while Masashi Kishimoto may have used mythology as a basis for his story Naruto is his own story and i dont think he will make naruto end badly with Sakura and Saskue just to match the mythology.
