What was the point of introducing it into the story at all? Naruto only used it once

I remember that when Naruto did Rasenshuriken they said that it was only half finished so maybe its possible that they do rasenshuriken similar to Oodama with like 2 clones maybe it won't do as much damage to Naruto

I forgot about the Oodama rasengan. I think they introduced it to us to show Naruto did something other than improve his timing on the shadow clones. I don't see Naruto practicing the rasenshuriken like that but you never know, we can only speculate. Anyways it damages everything it touches and if they use two clones they will both still have a hand on it causing the undesirable damage.
