If Jiraiya barely made it, it does seem like Orochimaru had barely made it too. Had Sai went after him right after with full power I wonder what would have happened? It's a tough call...

if naruto had attacked orichimaru one more time he would have been dead... did you see how vulnerable he was after he shed his skin only after a few times
