idn i think madara is using pain, pains arrogance irritates me to no end. I think he will eventually have to turn on him because they differ on opinions. What pain wants is almost in a way selfless, its pretty retarded but it does not give him much gain, he simply ends wars by killing a lot of people and through mutually assured destruction, genius -_-. I think Madara has a plan that is much more beneficial too himself. I think pain probably won't except him going against "gods" will, so in the end madara will probably have to eliminate pain ore more likely have pain get eliminated by someone else, i.e konoha. It is still kind of hard to know for sure, and i think we can for the most part agree madara seems to be a heck of a lot smarter then pain, or at least he has had a lot more time to think things over.

based on this i think if they fought madara would be alot more prepared and even if he is weaker then pain he would win
