Well, Asuma had blood and shit spilling out with dramatic music and everyone crying over him.
Where as in Jiraiya's case, he got stabbed and then kicked in the ocean where he talked to himself until he drifted out. And you sorta get the feeling he isn't dead... even though I believe he is...

pretty good episode.....pain is so cruel...he killed the closest thing he had to a father...jeez if anyone should be crying he should, imagine killing ur own parents for no reason
