Personally, the whole sub vs. dub thing (in any fandom) annoys me, because one isn't better than the other. It's pretty much a matter of preference or opinion.

Me? I watch both. Doesn't matter to me. While I agree the voice actors in the Japanese version do a better job, there's still something to be said for hearing an anime in my native language. It just..Flows better in my mind.

To be honest, the only english dubs I despise are ones done by 4-Kids. Epic fail at life.

I really don't like the English version. I will give it that the voices (in general, NOT Naruto's) match the characters a little better, but there are quite a few reasons why I seriously don't like the English dub:

-They have to "kiddify" everything. Rock Lee drinking Tsunade's "elixir" and having a "loopy attack" just ruins that entire plot. I'm sorry. Plus, the removal of blood in some instances just furthers the argument that kiddy = ungood. Everything has to be kid-approved since it airs on Cartoon Network, but that's not the best interest of the show.

-The voice actors actually try to imitate the Japanese way to say names, but just can't. I'm sick of hearing their stupid, failed attempts at recreating a genuine accent. I don't know how many times I've heard Naduto and Gaada. They put too much "d" sound into the "r" and that becomes all you hear. On a side note, the way they pronounce "Shikamaru" is annoyingly off as well.

-The lips usually aren't synchronized. That really bugs me and I know they can't help it, but still...

-The English dub is about 100 episodes behind (Currently it's in its 130's/140's and Shippuden is in its 40's). I'd have to wait close to two extra years to catch up with the rest of the fanbase, constantly. Again, this can't be helped, but still...

I must agree that America's attempt to "kiddify" anime really bothers me. Most anime is not for younger kids, but they edit the hell out of it to make it appeal to another age group, because more viewers/fans = more $$$ for them.

In regards to the anime being insanely behind the japanese one, that annoys me too. I've heard rumors that Cartoon Network may skip the fillers entirely, although I don't really see that happening.

It would be cool if they could air the fillers on the weekdays at night (instead of doing re-runs), and have Shippuuden air on Saturdays, although that would be a hell of a lot of work on the shoulders of Viz and the voice actors and everyone else involved..

I kinda think it'd be best for the more loyal fans if they did, but not for keeping children's interest. Generally speaking, American kids aren't exactly faithful to watch shows weekly, and the younger ones really don't like cliffhanging for a week. The filler episodes (well, most) more closely resemble other cartoons in that they get an entire plot said and done within 24 minutes...a definite plus among kids who don't tune in for 6-8 weeks to complete an entire arc.

Kiddify is a funny word that you used...heh...yes, the voice is extremely important. I say if you don't have a good voice actor or actress that suits the character don't force it. Keep it subbed, it's better that way.

the one thing with subs is some of the silly (even stupid) grammar mistakes. You get the point of what they are saying but some mistakes just annoy me.

Anyway, subs are still WAY better than dubs
