Can someone please explain this to me? On the old vBulletin forum I went to, apparently reputation was turned off. But in Elections 08, I have a gray bar and it says I'm even for this topic. My profile says I have ten reputation points. Is that good or bad?
Does anyone use the reputation feature? I didn't know it existed until just now... Thanks in advance to any and all replies. |

"reputation" means other members praised you for something astounding that you've done..and they do that by clicking the scale button on top left

Well, that's what I had figured, but what I was asking was do reputation points mean I'm bad, or good? I guess what I'm trying to say is, doesn't it also work both ways?

Well.. I can explain it to you a little bit but I need an admin's help to tell me the exact rep points.
Here is an explanation from the VBulletin site (I modified it a bit): Quote:
In another forum I joined, here are the requirements to give reputation (REMEMBER, IT WAS IN A DIFFERENT FORUM AND WE MIGHT HAVE DIFFERENT REQUIREMENTS HERE, SO ADMIN PLEASE HELP, HA HA): At least 50 posts At least 10 rep points Everyone gets 10 points after they registered. If you didn't meet the requirements, you can still "give rep" to a person but it will NOT affect a person's points, whether you decided to give him a positive or negative rep. If you see this beside the reputation message: Green square - the user was able to add points to your reputation. He gave you a pos rep. Red square - the user was able to take away points to your reputation. He gave you a neg rep. Gray square - the user didn't meet the requirements, so no points was added or deducted to you. It's a null rep. Giving or taking away points will NOT affect your own rep points. The more posts and reputation points you have, and the earlier the join date, the more you will affect a person's rep points. EXAMPLE: Member A: 50 posts 10 rep points Joined Feb 2008 Member B: 500 posts 80 rep points Joined Dec 2007 If both of them will give me a pos rep, Member B will be able to add MORE points to my reputation than Member A. To view a person's reputation level, look at the box under the number of posts he made at the upper right side of his posts. Point your cursor over the box. A member will have a new reputation rank after gaining a certain number of reputation points. If you want to view the reputation points (and comments) you have, check your User CP. Having a good or bad reputation won't automatically make you a senior member or get you banned. It's just a way of knowing if a certain member is respected or hated. Do not abuse giving or taking away reputation points from others, though. It can get you banned. Give only if you think the post is really worth a positive or a negative reputation. ADMIN HELP ME, WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS (POSTS, REP POINTS, ETC) FOR GIVING REP? D: Any other questions (I should just link to this post when I include this in the FAQ lol)?
