How do I post images?

Upload the image somewhere (Imageshack, Photobucket, etc.) and paste the code for forums in the text box when replying to a thread/creating a thread.

You can also mention something like right click the image you want and click properties. Then it shows the url of the image. Copy and paste that into the url in between [img] code.

it's just linking the image so that others can see what pic you're trying to show them

Yeah, I mean we do it all the time on the guess game, funny naruto pic, i dont think its that a of big deal

Alpha & Silent: I'm sure you two know how bandwidth works, but I'll still give an example. If I upload a photo in photobucket and it's size is 1 MB, everytime someone views that photo using my link 1 MB is taken from my bandwidth. Now let's say I have 1 GB of bandwidth in my account. If the picture is viewed 1000 times, instead of seeing the picture you will se the very ugly "user has exceeded bandwidth" pic in all the places where my photo was posted. Forums, blogs, websites, albums.. As long as you're using my link. This will not only affect me, but also you. The images you used will turn into ugly "bandwidth exceeded" reminders from image hosting sites.

Now, pics from big sites are being viewed probably more than a hundred times a day. Imagine how it affects their bandwidth. If you're gonna use their link you'll just add burden to their bandwidth.

Let's go back to the "photobucket" thing. There are sites which provide free hosting for images like Imageshack, Photobucket, Tinypic, etc. and they give you a certain amount of bandwidth monthly. Photobucket gives 25 GB of free bandwidth for their free accounts, because a lot of it are for personal uses only.

How about those who have big sites? I'm sure they need more than 25 GB of bandwidth so they don't use free hosting sites. They pay for more bandwidth so their site won't have lots of "bandwidth exceeded" images, which will definitely make visitors turn away.

Sure, they have lots of bandwidth. If I just take one image it won't hurt, right? What if everybody does that because "it won't hurt"?

It takes less than 5 minutes to register to a free image hosting site like Photobucket (I use it). They don't even require activation by email.

No seriously, that was a pretty good description.
And while I in no way say I'm a professional, I do think that bandwidth is temporary (i.e. 1000 or less people downloading the 1 MB image/file at a single time on 1GB of bandwidth.) Isn't that right? It just wouldn't make sense, because your computer would no longer be talking to their computer, so that space would be re-freed.

Of course, bandwidth is also used for surfing the net...right?

I'm really sorry. I just felt like writing a rant because my photobucket account had exceeded it's bandwidth soooo many times due to people using my links. It's so annoying, I can't use the images that I have uploaded.

And yes, depending on your image host bandwidth gets reset every now and then.

I didn't quite understand what you want to say but even though they all viewed it at a single time each of them would still consume 1 MB and if there's 1000 of them then *wham* bandwidth will exceed anytime. Lol.

If you have 1 GB of Bandwith and one 1MB file on the internet, as long as 999 people are viewing that file at the same time, that's okay, but once you get that 1000 person, you start having problems.
