The Newbies Ultimate Guide to enjoy the forums.

Hello everyone, I thought this would be a great way to help the newbies out so they only have to read this thread to start getting used to how this forum works. This guide will contain all the info + useful threads for newbies to read through to enjoy their stay here at Tailedfox.com. (Thanks Omega for the idea)

Rules:

Uhh yes the dreaded rules that must be followed, but don't worry reading them will only take a few minutes and your less likely to get in trouble or flamed out.

No Spamming
- Spam of any sorts within the threads
- No PMs on advertisements
- No double posting (if found, it will be deleted)
- Any posts that has 5 words or less will be considered as spam

Don't post unrelated topics
- Check out the topics before you post them and ensure they are in the right places in the forum

No Cross posting
- Don't post the same things over whether it's the same section or not

No Swearing
- Censor your language, since people of all age comes to our forum any excessive swearing is not allowed

No Flaming
- Any personal attacks will not be tolerated.

No Trolling
- No posts derogatory comments

Illegal Materialz
-No posts containing warez links of some sort

Use Spoiler alert when it's required
- Yes, not all of us have read the manga so be considerate and not spoil it for others

Advertise in the appropriate thread
- Look for the advertisement section to post advertisements

Only one name is allowed to register per household
- Registering with multiple names is not allowed and is subject to ban if found by a mod or an admin

Don't abuse your privileges. All Admins or Mods have the rights to moderate the rules or change them with proper reasoning.

Simple? yes? rules here are taken seriously and we would like to keep the boards clean for everyone so try not to break them.

Necroing and YOU

Necroing is when someone revives a topic long dead. Avoid posting in threads more then 2 months old that haven't had anyone post in it for a long period of time. Forum Regulars frown upon this.

I'm not SPAMMING!?

I hate to break it to you sir/mam but this is not a chat room so any comments that don't contribute to the topic are considered spam.

Examples would be:

Yeah, that's awesome!

That's funny!

Try to keep posts meaningful otherwise it just clutters the topic. There for being called spam. Sometimes this is allowed if your new because we understand that it can be hard to fit in with everyone but it SHOULD be avoided. Keep such small talk to the Chat box on the index page.

Introductions

It's very plight to make an introduction before posting to much on the other sections of the forum. We Regulars like to see new people come on and we are very happy to greet new members. Tell us a bit about yourself we don't bite

if your not comfortable with giving away to much info that's fine we respect privacy.

Post count doesn't make you COOL

Yes many people come on to forums and boost their post counts to no end. It's not necessary because people won't respect you if all you do is make pointless comments just for the +1 post. Try your best to make posts meaningful people respect you more for it, and hey maybe you'll get some Rep points

Reputation:

The reputation system shows if your post was helpful, good etc. so to learn how to use this system go here: How do I +/-Rep people?

DO NOT abuse this or you will be banned, this is something used to rate good posts and not to go around repping everyone for no reason. People like it when they know why they were repped so be sure to give a reason.

How do I get a blue,red,green, Orange name?

Simply put, you don't. These colours are used to show who's a moderator of the forums and only a select few are able to become one. But don't get to discouraged yet, maybe someday you'll be respected enough to become one

This DOES NOT mean go around and ask everyone if you can become a mod, people hate it when people do that.

Why was I warned? =(

Well to be very blunt you broke the rules and therefore got a warning. Warnings are issued to people who break the forum rules, if you get a warning for spam that generally means don't keep spamming the forums. 4 Warnings = Perma Ban no exceptions.

Advertising

Uhhh yes we certainly get a lot of these and lots break the rules of the forums. SO I will make it easy on you and post the rules here.

1. Must have at least 25 non spam posts before posting.
1. No adult oriented content
2. No racist, sexist, discriminatory advertisements of any sort
3. No excessive advertisements of more then two are allowed per week

If any of these are broken you know your gonna be warned/banned depending on the content of the post. So don't cry to us if your warned.

How do I gain points and titles?

Points are earned in doing various things on the forum such as:

Posting
Making threads
Tagging your posts
Replies to your threads
Having a post Stickied
Thread views

and other ways I may not be aware of XD

Gaining a title is done through posting, make enough posts and you'll gain a title. Of course spamming is not tolerated.

Spoilers, big no no

Sense this is an anime forum most people are well, talking about anime. So if your gonna discuss it and you blurt out a spoiler of an episode that someone hasn't seen people will be mad. A way to prevent yourself from getting in trouble is to use a spoiler tag that hides any spoilers from sight unless someone wants to see them. An example:

Spoiler: Spoiler

When your replying to a thread there is a button in the right hand corner that says spoiler, click that, enter the name for the spoiler and your set! Keep in mind that a Mod can warn you for not using a spoiler tag.
