Hello to all, Most of you should know me by now but some of you may not.
Whether you do or not I'm sure many of you have created threads or at least made a fair amount of posts on these forums since they are very popular, Well this guide is for everyone who posts on the forums whether your new or not, read it and you may learn a few things. A well written thread means you get rep and respect from other members, people will take you more seriously and you look smarter. A first impression of a post will affect the replys you get. So make sure your thread makes a good first impression. Here are some tips on making good threads and posts. Presentation Paragraphs Try not to create walls of text if you can, people will look at it and simply go to the next thread, I've done it many times myself. Walls of text are harder to read and can be a strain to the eyes, especially for the many Non-English Speakers who visit the Forums. Using Paragraphs is a good way to seperate your posts, Simply press the 'Return' Key twice to skip a line and continue writing. If your unsure of where to place A paragraph, try using one every few sentances or when you move from one point to the next. Grammar Grammar is very important to a well written thread. Using spaces should be common sense but some people still forget. ThisishardtoreadbecauseIdidn'tusethespacebar Capital Letters should be used for every new sentance or place, character and Member name. Full stops are used at the end of every sentance and paragraph. Other punctuation can be used to make your text easier to read too. If you need help with Grammar, use the copy function to copy your thread into any word processing software and use the spelling and grammer check to correct it, then copy it back; it takes a minute to do and makes your posts so much nicer. Headings The use of headings is a good feature to use, especially for long posts like this one. They help to seperate the different sections of your post better than Paragraphs and can help people to read your threads if they refer back to the heading they read last. One format I use is the following: Bold and Underlined text for main Headings Bold Text for sub headings Italic Text for highlighting key points To use these simple highlight the section of text you wish to change and click any of the buttons at the top left of the reply box; and the text is changed automatically. You can also change parts of your post to different colours, to do this highlight the text you wish to change and select a colour from the top button, the text is then automatically changed for you. For example: This is red. This is blue. You can also combine colours with other font options for greater effect. Using other forum features These forums allow you to many fancy things, and there are other guides that tell you how to use these. I'm going to explain how to use them effectively in threads and posts Spoilers A guide on how to use spoilers can be found here: http://www.tailedfox.com/forums/gene...-spoilers.html Usually the use of spoilers is used by Manga readers to hide plot details to non manga readers. Its a simple effective way to keep most people happy. By putting '=Manga readers' in your spoiler code people know whether to click the spoiler or not as the text will say 'Spoiler for Manga readers' Sometimes you may wish to spoiler tag a whole thread if it is especially long or contains newly released content. Many users who do this will write a brief explanation of their thread in front of the spoiler to give an idea of what is inside. It is even possible to put spoilers within spoilers. Just remember to use the right amount of spoiler 'ends' for example: Images and Videos This is a good guide for using images in Signatures which can also apply to normal posting How to put images in your signature box Many Members will use Images and videos to back up any theorys or explanations they make, having evidence will seperate your thread from the rest, Often these include manga pages or anime video segments. It is a good idea to wrap a spoiler tag around images and videos in order to seperate it from the text and save space on the screen as well as bandwidth. Don't try posting offensive images or videos as they will be removed by moderators are you may be banned. Also remember not to use copyrighted content without permission. Quoting If you wish to argue a point or answer a question you may wish to quote to quote the Original post. Just be sure you only quote the Neccessary parts to save room or you may with to spoiler tag a whole quote. Links Links to outside Urls can be made, but be sure that there is no offensive content contained in the link. It will make you very unpopular and could get you banned. Other Good habits *Using notepad is a good way to store thread templates or half finished threads, If your like me you'll be constantly noting down new ideas. *Be sure to read through your post and use the 'preview post option to check that all spoiler tags and text options work correctly. Check that images and links load correctly. *Double check the layout and check all spelling and grammer. *Make sure your thread is easy to understand. Leet speak and Mobile Text talk are no good here. *Stick to English, its the only language everyone on these forums can understand. *Remember that there are many Non-English speakers here including myself, If we can write in good English then so can you. *Make sure you read the http://www.tailedfox.com/forums/gene...18-2008-a.html regulary and keep up to date. Finally be kind and polite to all members and you'll get it in return. Make lots of friends and have a good time. *this thread may be edited later to include forum updates and content changes*

Sense this has detailed information and got some positive responses I'll sticky this so that newbies can look at it when they need to if they think they're doing something wrong.
