for my program I went to the tool bar at the top of the screan went in effects and there was a thing that said transparent fade I used that

I don't know much about it but picture where the light is coming from(I think...)

well shading is hard to explain but figure out a light sorce and imagine were the light and dark area will be. Or if it helps find a picture that looks similar to the one you drew and find the light and dark areas. And it sometimes helps to blend colors when you can get one dark or light enough. Like on a blue dragon you may want to use purpule for dark areas and a pale blue or green for light areas. Other than that all it takes is lots of practice.
