Personally I like L way more than Near.
I really dislike Near..Don't know why but I just don't like him xD

Near is alright...but L is just better in how he does things

Mello seems better than Near, but looking at it again...i kinda like Near than Mello now

I like Mello much more than Near. At least with Mello we see he has some ambition, Near is too much of a machine. That's not a bad thing, but at least with L, he was an interesting machine. Near was just this boring little kid. To answer the original question, I choose L. Don't know how this can even be seen as a competition, L pretty much made this show in my opinion.
