About Death Note - READ THIS if you're interested in watching Death Note
This is a general summary of what Death Note is about, for those of you that don't know. In case you're wondering what Death Note is about.
Death Note begins with high-school genius Light Yagami's narrative about how the world is polluted with criminals and offenders and will never change, and how he's sick of hearing the same old murders and tragedies. This, coupled with Shinigami Ryuk's complete boredom, results in Light's discovery of a strange, voodoo book called the Death Note, which claims to have magical powers. When tested and found to be real, the book serves as both Light's tool to create a better world and Ryuk's temporary cure for his eternal boredom. Light plans to rid the world of evil hearts and create a utopia of pure and good people, a heaven on earth. But be not mistaken, Light's not just fooling around with the note; he knows exactly what he's doing, covering all of his tracks extremely carefully. The public soon realizes what is happening, and criminals are now living in fear of their time of judgment by this unknown figure while the righteous rejoice, appointing him as "Kira," adapted from the English "killer."
Of course, once the UN catches on to the fact that criminals are all dying of mysterious heart attacks, they want to know who is behind these murders, and L is there for them. L is a mysterious man that no one has ever seen, but he is a detective genius, solving every case he's taken. The Kira case is no exception; L's witty moves lead him right to Kira's region within days of investigation.
But L can't breeze through this mystery like he has with the ones of the past. Light offers a very strong resistance to L's tactics, and has enough tricks of his own to throw into the mix. With all of their interesting ploys at a seemed stalemate, plot thickens and twists with every episode in this heated battle of wits between Light, a visionary with good motive, and L, a moral-driven man determined to put Kira down.
(Author's note: Death Note is the best anime I've seen. If this has piqued your interest at all, you must watch it.)
