Different advertising websites keep popping up in different windows.
I thought I uninstalled any programs that might be causing this problem but whenever I surf the internet they still pop up. |

i think you should be installing programs that stop the problem, you could remove programs all day and still not know where the stuff's coming from... there are plenty of antivirus programs out there...

If you are using Firefox, get Ad-Block Plus
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 Or just install a pop-up blocker.

Alright. Well, I am going to tell you a story of how I fixed my Boss's Daughter's computer.
I had to go in an hand edit/delete corrupt registry components. This takes hours, even from someone who has done it before. My advice: Reinstall windows and format your hard drive after moving your pictures/movies/music/etc. onto a third-party storage (such as a mobile hard-drive/online storage service/flash-drive) and make sure the whole thing is formated completely. Reinstall windows, install drivers, install AVG 8.0 {AVG 8.0 is offered for free} and keep your computer clean. Sorry, only advice I got for you right now. If I could have the ability to have your mouse in hand I would be able to give a better diagnosis. Hope this helps: Heru |

Last and I mean LAST resort is formatting... (Alto it's good to format it once in a while) Also ad block doesn't stop the pop ups because t hey come random from Adwares, which confuses Ad Block... What you'll have to do is scan your computer in safe mode (to get in to safe mode, on boot up (where the screen is still black and windows hasn't started loading, start pressing the "F8" key, which brings a boot up menu, chose safe mode from there, after it loads don't be scared from the resolution xD) Scan your PC from there. Use Avg 8, as suggested, or just google some antispyware / ad-ware program and download it, then run it ![]() |

Virus scanners and Ad ware scanners only pick up 80% of the actual adware due to the coding and scripts being placed in files that cannot be scanned because the companies don't want to corrupt a potential file that could retain multiple operating demands. Alright, here's another bit of advice. IF you can still use your browser, put in google the name of the popups and try to find a guide to remove them. However, I can almost garuntee that it will involve editing/deleting/moving registry files. Which if you do one wrong thing, it could screw up your computer much worse than before. However, for how long it takes to edit registry, I would much prefer to format; but, that must come with owning a large external hard drive.

I work with computers, and I read in some thread that you are planning to study that too.
Here's an advice from me to you. Use format as a completely last option... Second, 80% is pretty much all of them (and I can guarantee that I always remove 100%). Those that are hardly removable are not pop ups, trust me, they are much worse... If you do like to format it, jsut transfer what ever you have on your C drive to your D drive, then format C with a new install of windows and problem's gone. (Of course scan it again) And being in safe mode get's them because they aren't executed(lunched, started) so the program(anti-virus) can access them easily... And as for registry editing, it's not needed, there are programs that repair and remove broken registries for you... |
