The reason why I had edit the registry is because programs could miss some, or the adware get around it. I didn't mean to insult you, but from the way he is making this sound, it is pretty bad. Which would be much more understandable to simply reformat.

It helps speed up your drive as well as gives you the momentum to finally go through and clean your harddrive. Of course, if you don't have a second drive or something to put it on, it could be bad.

Nah, I didn't get it as insulting, but the way I always go is,
if he doesn't know how to correctly fix and adware, then formatting
and installing a new windows could be problematic for him too...
(As for the speed and a good clean up, I know. I formatted my PC this morning xD)

I found as anti-adware program. It didn't find anything wrong. I notice that the ads are the same cycle of ads over and over. I'm going to try using a website filter option I have.

AVG (The free version) is usually for viruses. It doesn't scan enough for spyware/adware.

Format is the LAST resort. I cannot understand when someone says that format is faster than fixing the problem. For many users, it is not!

Finding and oving all your critical files to another disk..?
1 hour to find all your files, and 30minutes for the tranfer.
Format and reinstall windows..(with drivers, updates etc)?
1.30 hour
Reinstall applications..?
1 day!!!
That is for my 463 music producing programs, the firefox addons, skins for different programs, codecs and other applications such as km player and etc etc.
Transfer back files and organize them
1 hour

Solution to your problem :

1. Download Spybot Search & Destroy and update it.
2. Download HijackThis

• [*}Restart your computer in safe mode.
• Run Spybot, and fix problems
• Restart your computer and boot normally.
• See if problem is fixed. If not, run Hijackthis and make a note of suspicious programs running at startup.
• I wont include other steps here, because you have to have some knowledge on what you're gonna edit (Registry keys, files) and there are plenty of useful and detailed guides on the net. (Truth : I'm really bored right now to write a detailed guide )
