Windows XP theme help (brother used a vista theme on his computer now it died)
Normally i wouldn't try help m,y brother but since he just paid $2000 for a new PC i said i would help but of course i have no idea what I'm doing. This is what he tried to do.
-he saw my theme and wanted a better one
- downloaded one which made it look like vista when he has XP
- installed it
- didn't like it
- shouted at me for it
- when it starts up his computer and logs onto his user account it freezes
can anyone help, I'll try find the theme he downloaded if that helps
First off, if the problem persists, then he should boot the computer in safe mode, then go to Run -> msconfig -> Startup or Services, then disable some programs that he thinks is causing the problem when XP starts up. If that doesn't work, then he should try disabling - removing his password for his account through safe mode and seeing if it works.. if THAT doesn't work, (Don't know any other way) then he'll just have to reinstall XP, it's probably a startup program or the theme..
Hope this helps.

As knightmare said..
And As I told you in the previous thread about the problem..
Bot in safe mode(that solves the problem to everything xD)
And first try removing the theme and I wouldn't suggest going in "MSCONFIG"
It's very important place and you can mess up your PC if you don't know
what you are doing. So better stay out of there...
As I was saying, delete the theme and set the default one..
That should solve the problem... Cuz at start up that's the first thing to load..
Reinstalling is the last option. I would suggest you, posting here what has happened,
and maybe a video or a pic of what is happening...
Maybe We can help you and fix the PC without reinstalling

I'm a perfectly calm person, now DIE!
Like Filip said, MSCONFIG is for all the technical stuff. If he wanted a new computer that looks like a Vista theme, he should just bought a Vista instead of a $2000 XP.
PS: What kind of computer was it?
PSS: Macs are less expensive and easier/faster to use.
