anime ended too early though, and manga is waaay better, but its an awesome series

Does the manga go like the anime just passing it or does the anime and manga differ greatly? If the manga just passes the anime would you mind telling me a good chapter to start it on?

They differ and are similar... I'd say start at the beginning... if you don't want to read something that you've seen in an episode, then just skip it.
