I'll agree with that wolf-sage. I'll say Jiraiya's died, I mean his arm was torn off, his throat was smashed in, and he was sinking in water. The odds of him surviving the first two injuries would be amazing but to think that we'd meet a new character later on that saved him or the frog that holds the seals key is just a little too imaginative.
