Or it could just be that the creator wanted him to have it and didn't feel like going into detail with it!!!!!!!! MIND WARP!
Honestly though I think the closest we're going to get with finding out is that he felt responsible for everyone's (people he cares about) death. But like I stated before I don't think there's a reason.
